Weekend pics November 8 & 9, 2014

I just adore this photo of Shiva I took today. He was playing in the spare bedroom with Pema and he always thinks he hears something by the window in there, so he had moved up to the couch to get a closer look. He's our little hunter.

Tanzi thought he could claw through the front window to get to a leaf that was taunting him outside.

I came home from helping my mom at her craft fair and found the guys all cuddled together so sweetly.

New Cat Condo

Craig and I have been on the hunt for a new cat condo for the boys. Our old one was no longer safe and had to be thrown away. Turns out that cat condos are not cheap at local pet stores. Some were near a hundred dollars.

I turned to Chewy.com, which I had ordered cat food and toys from in the past and found a great new, large cat condo with multiple layers and scratching posts.

TBT when I first met Shiva and Pema

Happy throw back Thursday! These are some photos of when I first went to meet Pema and Shiva at the Humane Society on my lunch break. They were sick with colds and we weren't too sure about adopting them at this point.

Back then, they were called David (Shiva) and Dougie (Pema).

Misc. photos

Shiva sneaking around our bedroom.

Pema loves being underneath blankets. Shiva, not so much.

My colleague is a pet trainer at night and he suggested using the clicker and treats to train the kittens. We're just in the early stages, but he promises I could train the cats to turn off a light on a light switch!

Both kittens like to lay on top of pillows in this way.

Catching flies

Shiva is quite the little hunter. I think he's consumed about two or three flies so far this summer.

I accidentally let a fly in earlier today and they were enjoying watching it in our window.

Shiva's Toy Mouse Obsession

Here are some shots of Shiva and Pema with the newest toy mouse addition to our house. Shiva is especially obsessed with it and watches to see if any of us will "hunt" after him when he has the mouse. He growls when it's in his mouth and Pema or Tanzi gets close to him. It's so cute hearing a little sweet kitten growl really loudly like a dog!

Shiva sitting strangely and new toys

Shiva loves to sit on top of my chair in the kitchen, especially if I am sitting there and eating something.

Craig picked up two new toys for the boys on Wednesday night: a fake mouse for Shiva, the hunter, and a crinkly foil ball for Pema, who could chase one of those for hours.

Upon showing Shiva the fake mouse, he went totally crazy and started growling immediately.

Tanzi's bedtime routine

Like Karma before him, Tanzi enjoys his established bedtime routine of sneaking into our bedroom (normally closed off to all cats) and crawling on the blankets. As you'll see from the photos below, it takes him a while to settle in.

Always wanting pets, which just irritates my cat allergies!

Turning around to come back towards his mama and settle closer to my face. :)

Photos of Pema

Pema and Shiva together, watching birds, as always

Pema concentrating

The boys recently started trying to open the kitchen cabinets, which has been lovely to wake up to at 5 a.m. I bought some childproof locks for the cabinets last week and that helped immensely. We also blocked the single cabinets with kitty litter. Our house continues to be dominated by the kittens and their antics.

I came upstairs from the basement the other day and saw this. Oh Pema. He loves my Apera gym bag. I have to put it away in the closet right away so he doesn't destroy it.

Photos of Shiva

Shiva continues to be the shy (especially with strangers), but lovable kitty. He's so snuggly with me every day and that is what I really hoped for from one of the two boys when we adopted them.

If I venture outside to take pictures for the blog, he usually watches what I am doing. This time, he was trying to catch a bug inside.

My mom sewed up his favorite mouse and he was so excited to be reconnected with it last weekend. What a goof.

Bam! He was trying to touch the camera lens!
